Books & monographs

The book, "The Briton's Quest for Freedom .. Our unfinished journey", published in 2007, provides the most comprehensive account of why our political system has failed to protect the interests of the people of Britain. It reviews the failures in the electoral cycle including the specific shortcomings in how political parties draw up policies, how general elections are organised and run, how a parliament is formed and governments organised, legislative procedures and in the application of the law.

Leading Issues
in the  British Economy

This book provides a comprehensive view of constitutional shortcomings and provides propositions as to how decision-making in electoral procedures and governance can be more transparent and efficient than the political party system by proposing critical constitutional provisions which would support independent politicians whilst reinforcing the protection of freedom and the response of policy-making to constituency preferences.

This book is in its third issue and can be purchased through any bookstore via Nielsen Book Services Ltd, it has a cover price of £17.50 and ISBN No: 978-0-907833-01-7.

The book, "Leading Issues in the British Economy" is a sequel to "The Briton's Quest for Freedom .. Our unfinished journey". It reports on some 35 years economics research work into the reasons for failures in conventional economic policies following Keynesian and Monetarist principles as well as the Supply Side economic experiment. The book explains how such policies lack traction arising from their inability to address the diversity of preferences of the social and economic constituencies. Such policies lose traction completely with any instability in commodity or financial markets as has been witnessed on at least four important occasions in the last 65 years.

One of the most revealing aspects of a proposed Real Incomes approach is that it provides much evidence supporting a system of poltical economy which can operate more efficiently without political parties.

Expected publication date: November/December, 2009.

Conscience
&
Human Rights

The book, "Conscience & Human Rights" explores the fundamental role of human conscience in setting the agenda for expectations in behaviour as a quite distinct and separate issue from Human Rights founded in law. This book demonstrates how some of the most significant advances in concepts and notions of human rights did not arise as a result of political parties, legislators or governments but rather as a result of jury decisions which went against the wishes of legislators made up of members of political parties and, in some cases, the judges concerned attempting to impose the law. Certainly this book provides ammunition for those who wish to promote human rights in a rational way and free from the interferences of political parties.

Expected publication date: November, 2009.

The book, "The Minority Principle & Decision Analysis" extends a constitutional concept introduced in the book, "The Briton's Quest for Freedom .. Our unfinished journey" and the discussions concerning freedom and individual preferences in the book,"Leading Issues in the British Economy".
The Minority
Principle
&
Decision
Analysis

The implications of the Minority Principle as an essential constitutional principle were too wide-ranging to be included in these original texts.

The fascinating aspect of the Minority Principle is that it provides a constitutional provision which prevents the taking of decisions which impose altered conditions on others affected by such decisions without their consent. Far from creating grid-lock in political decision-making, as spokespeople for poltiical parties would claim, the Minority Principle frees up the course of decision-making to take into account a wider range of options as well as accepts the possibility of policy solutions incorporating more than one option. Rather than have political decision-making involving many who do not agree, the Minority Principle creates an environment where freely motivated decisions create outcomes which are more widely supported and this sustains policy traction. This important book is yet another contribution to the evolving realisation that politics without parties is a feasible and preferable state of affairs.

Expected publication date: December, 2009.
