Introduction
E-mancipation is dedicated to promoting actions to bring about a wider degree of individual freedom for the people in the United Kingdom. The concept of individual freedom as the central value of a national constitution was proposed by Englishmen during the seventeenth century; their constitutional pamphlets have never been bettered. Recently 1, it has been revealed, that a vital aspect of the proposals made in England were an emphasis on the imperative of safeguarding individual freedom by introducing constitutional provisions to prevent the formation of political parties, factions and the development of a class of professional politicians. These essential provisions were censored from the pamphlets and contributions which gave rise to the final form of the English Bill of Rights and which later provided the basis for the American Constitution.

The United Kingdom's political system
These are all specific instances of where individual free expression is severely curtailed, or even prevented, and these constraints are associated with a single identifiable cause. This is the conflict of interests between the motivations and objectives of political parties and the interests of the nation. | We have passed through a prolonged period during which political parties have manipulated events so as to achieve a domination of the political process in spite of their now having a completely insignificant membership and a level of electorate support at elections constituting a minority status. For example, the current government gained votes from just 19% of the electorate.
Analysis
In spite of this corruption in process it is notable that the most significant number of individual constraints on the expression of the free will of the people occur in the processes most often considered to be the basis for a Parliament of the "free will of the people". 62% of the major constraints on the free expression of the population arise from the way in which general elections are run, how Parliament is organised and how governments are formed and managed. On the other hand, contrary to the commonly expressed opinion of British political parties, the House of Lords accounts for just 3.3% of these constraints.
Sovereignty
The most significant overall threat to the ability of the people to defend their individual freedom lies in the area of sovereignty. Broadly speaking this relates to increasing subservience of British Law to European Law. European Law is largely codified and has no role for the community conscience and therefore alien to English Common Law but relies upon decisions taken by panels of judges. Unfortunately European institutions are characterised by increasing decadence in the standards applied because of an erosion in the levels of independence of the European judiciary which has become increasingly politicized during the last two enlargements.
